Quinta do Montalto, is an estate owned by the same family for five generations, spans approximately fifty hectares of vineyards, olive groves, orchards, and forests — forming a magnificent mosaic across the landscape.
Located within the extensive Lisbon wine-growing region, Montalto’s 24 hectares of vineyards are planted in clay-limestone soils and benefit from excellent sun exposure. These ideal conditions enable the production of wines classified as DOC Encostas D’Aire.
Situated in central Portugal, in the region of Ourém near Fátima, Montalto continues a long-standing winemaking tradition. The estate cultivates a variety of grape types, notably Touriga Nacional and Fernão Pires, the most representative red and white varieties, respectively. Other grapes grown include Aragonez, Trincadeira, Syrah, Baga, Alicante Bouschet, Castelão, Moreto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Arinto, Rabo de Ovelha, and Olho de Lebre.
In addition to producing elegant, fruit-driven wines and sparkling wines, Montalto also crafts jams and vinegars, each reflecting the estate’s artisanal spirit — far removed from mass industrial production.
The pursuit of authentic regional products with a truly distinctive character has guided the dedication and craftsmanship of both the family and the estate’s team for generations.
With full respect for the environment, all crops at Montalto are grown in accordance with organic farming principles, certified by ECOCERT-PORTUGAL. The use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other synthetic products is strictly prohibited.
Moreover, because no animal-derived products are used in the winemaking process, all Montalto wines are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and are officially registered with The Vegan Society.
